Description
Seacamp is a non-profit marine science camp for teens 12-17 located on Big Pine Key in the Florida Keys. The adventure includes snorkeling, SCUBA diving and certifications, sailing, windsurfing & creative expressions. June 24-July 11; July 14-31; August 3-20.
Marine Science Marine Science is the heart of Seacamp's mission. Since 1966, campers have discovered and explored the tropical waters of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Looe Key Reef, the only living coral reef in the continental U.S. Our marine science program appeals to all campers at their own level of interest while learning important ecological principles pertinent to the future of our natural resources. The comprehensive program is coordinated in numerous 21-hour course offerings that campers select to create their schedule. All science programs include field study: labs, wading, kayaking and boat trips. Campers have unique access to over 400 types of fish, coral and algae!
SCUBA Programs Seacamp offers courses in SCUBA diving to qualified campers. The courses are designed to give the diver training in SCUBA techniques so that he/she will be able to safely use SCUBA as a tool for underwater research. Satisfactory completion of our Basic or Master Diver certification course earns the camper certification through NAUI. Campers already certified can participate in one of many marine science/SCUBA courses.
Aquatics Seacamp offers sailing for fun and certification, ARC lifeguarding, and windsurfing programs.
