Description
Founded in 1905, Darlington School is a coeducational, college-preparatory school that serves both boarding (9-PG) and day students (PK-12). We offer a rigorous academic program with extensive opportunities in leadership, service, arts, athletics and other extracurricular activities. Our curriculum ensures the development of strong writing, math and study skills, and includes AP and Honors courses as well as ESL. Located in Rome, Ga., near Atlanta and Chattanooga, Darlington's 400-acre campus includes a small lake and over five miles of running trails. Athletic facilities include a 96,000-square-foot athletic center with weight room, swimming pool, indoor track, aerobics room and multiple gymnasiums, as well as 12 outdoor tennis courts, stadium, a baseball complex, softball field and other playing fields. Our boarding students live in six residence halls that are supervised by one full-time head of house. More than 50 percent of Darlington's faculty and staff members also live on campus and help with after-hours supervision and student support. Parents and students follow academic progress through secure student pages on Darlington's Web site. In addition, our athletic academies for tennis and soccer offer serious young athletes the chance to train with world-class coaches and instructors year round. Our instrumental conservatory is designed for dedicated and gifted musicians who desire to be part of an orchestral program and receive extensive training.
